Sharing information about a person who may pose a significant risk to staff

If a practitioner wishes to share an individual’s information in order to protect employees and others then this should be discussed in the first instance with their line manager and progressed via their agency’s procedures.

These procedures should be compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998 provisions and guidance, as well as the agency’s general duties as contained within the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and obligations under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (Regulations 10 and 12).
